an East/West Coastal Travelogue

  September 16-22, 2006

  Visiting family in Venice Florida
We start our trip with a visit to the home of Margie and Al Kostbar in Venice, Florida. Good conversation, (great breakfast) butterflies, sandhill cranes, and a little tour of the area

The islands of Estero, Sanibel, and Captiva
Beautiful beaches, a comfy condo with a great view, local color. Hop aboard the bowrider with Captain Bobby!

Thomas Edison-Henry Ford Winter Estates & Museum
Smart rich guys second homes, but the cool thing was the museum of real breakthrough technologies of 100 years ago + more. How about a banyan tree that covers over an acre of land?

  Exploring the Everglades ecosystems
Join Captain Chris Christensen, Susanne and Nicole (from Wiesbaden), Robert & Laura on a day of wildlife exploration. 'Gators, birds, manatees galore.

  Movie: Virtual airboat thrill ride
Two-minute video was taken directly from my Kodak DX7440. It puts you right on the speeding airboat with us.

  A day in Key West
ourney over 250 miles round-trip across the Gulf of Mexico to visit the southernmost town in the continental US. Snorkeling at Ft. Zach Taylor State Beach, lunch at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. Homeward bound...
