Robert is my brother, and
although we didn't get along so well when we were kids, we're very close now, even though
my home is 700 miles from his, in the midst of the glitz of Las Vegas. My name is Renee,
and I work for one of the large hotels here in town.
In the snapshot above, you see his cyberness kneeling next to the sofa, with my husband
Steve waving in the back, and my son Jacob in the foreground. This shot was taken during a
visit last November.
FAMILY ALBUM
Yes this is Steve's dad. Bob Lund was a veteran firefighter for the majority of his life.
Starting while in the US Air Force, he became the first to use the modern foam and
chemical fire suppressants and equipment. This lead him to the Nevada Nuclear Test Site
where experimental aircraft were being used. He stayed there for many years then left to
pursue his own business. He did so in Las Vegas, Nevada as a provider of the most modern
fire protection systems available. This was a real asset to the growing hotel industry. He
was a real pioneer in fire saftey. . . as a father he was the greatest, always available
when needed. But fate has taken him. We all miss him very much.
Have
you seen this woman? Probably not. It's our Mom, the amazing Jeanne Sylvia Gelman, and she
died in 1981. She really loved life, and made sure most everyone around her saw the
humorous side of it. Here you see her ID card from the Clark County School District, where
she worked for many years as an administrator.
I sure wish we had a scanned picture of our Dad, Sidney "Mr. Gizmo" Gelman. He
was using Compuserve and Q-Link with a portable Commodore computer as far back as 1984. I
guess he had a big influence on his son, who seems to be about as immersed in the Internet
as I am in family stuff! Sidney passed away in 1986, but there's so much of him in my
brother and son, it's like he's still with us.
Hey
check the cute "sixties couple." This picture of our Uncle Dave & Aunt
Thelma was taken at their 25th wedding anniversary party. They just celebrated their 56th
anniversary here with us in Vegas. I'm glad I live here, because they just l-o-v-e to
visit! Thel is our Mom's sister.
Also on our Mom's side are Ida and Saul Kaufman, our grandparents shown here in this
b&w snap circa 1959. They were amazing and wonderful too.
We've got lots more planned for this site...hopefully some things that push the technology
more than the current static nature of these pages. And hopefully some content that will
be more interesting to the rest of the world than this digital family album must be. Hey
Rob, thanks for your help getting it started.
Now you can see our new home being built, in slightly
less-than-real-time!
